Cedar Lake 1
Cedar Lake 1 is a rebuild idea which aims to retain the original size and materiality of an existing abandonned cabin while promoting an architectural conversation with the site. Large windows and obstruction-free porches ensure panoramic views onto the lake and the forested hill at the rear. This modern architectural idea is introduced into an acrobatic timber structure made large-span beams (under the floor) and cantilevered roof trusses. A wood stove heats the open living area, while the closed bedroom opens onto a private porch. A black standing seam roof and cedar-clad envelope are not unlike many of the other properties around the lake.
